Last week good stuff

1. Summer nails again.
2. I planted a cherry tree and two apple trees. I really really really hope they'll grow big and fruity!
3. Back in the woods, this time no more snow.
4. Cycling. L-O-V-E it!
5. We've had gorgeous, warm summer weather all week long.
Also:
- *the concert*
- At work we've been going outside for a picnic on our lunch break.
- I found out my summer holiday begins on July 2nd, so it's only four more weeks to freedom!

1. Kesäkynnet jälleen.
2. Istutin kirsikkapuun ja kaksi omenapuuta, toivottavasti menestyvät hyvin!
3. Kävimme taas metsässä; ihanassa, lumettomassa sellaisessa.
4. Pyöräily on mahtavaa!
5. Kesäisen lämmin ja aurinkoinen sää koko viikon.
Sekä:
- *konsertti*
- Töissä olemme siirtyneet ruokatauoilla ulos piknikille.
- Kesäloman ajankohta selvisi; se alkaa 2. heinäkuuta eli jo neljän viikon päästä!

EDIT: I must be really excited about my summer holiday... It's five weeks away, not four! Well, let's hope the waiting will feel shorter than that...
Taidan olla tosi innoissani kesälomasta... Sinnehän on viisi viikkoa, eikä neljä! Toivotaan, että odottaminen tuntuu lyhyemmältä!

Good morning!

Last week good stuff

1. I got a new bag! The old one has been worn out for years and I've struggled to find a new one that I would really like. This one has it all; it's huge, easy to carry and bright as the summer that's coming.
2. Walking in the rain. Better make the most of the weather we are having.
3. Going to the tiny little cabin with Grandma. I'll tell you about it later!
4. I got Mum a bouquet of flowers for her birthday. They were so pretty I decided to get a bouquet for Grandma, too, and one for myself.
5. The spring has finally arrived here in the Northern Finland!
6. I found love.
7. Beauty on a grey, rainy day. Right here in my neighbourhood.
8. Violas for free! Some years ago I bought these and planted them in a flower box. Somehow they started spreading on the lawn and haven't even minded the lawnmower. So I dug them up and set them in flower pots. There were so many I even gave two to our neighbours.
9. I went nordic walking on the highest spot in our town (which is really not that high). I needed the view more than the workout.

Lots of good things last week, I see!

1. Ostin uuden laukun! Entinen oli ollut kulahtanut jo vuosia, ja olen yrittänyt etsiä uutta, josta todella pidän. Tässä on kaikki; se on jättikokoa, helppo kantaa ja kesäisen raikas.
2. Kävelylenkit sateessa. Parasta ottaa näistäkin säistä kaikki irti.
3. Mummun käyttäminen pikkuruisella mökillä; kerron siitä lisää myöhemmin!
4. Ostin äitille kukkia syntymäpäivänä. Ne olivat niin kauniita, että ostin samalla mummullekin. Ja itselleni.
5. Kevät on viimein saapunut meillekin!
6. Löysin rakkautta.
7. Harmaan sadepäivän kauneutta ihan tässä naapurustossa.
8. Ilmaisia orvokkeja! Joitakin vuosia sitten ostin näitä ja istutin kukkalaatikkoon. Sieltä ne ihmeellisesti alkoivat levitä nurmikolle, eivätkä ole säikähtäneet edes ruohonleikkuria. Niinpä kaivoin niitä ylös ja istutin kukkapurkkeihin. Niitä oli niin paljon, että vein naapureillekin pari.
9. Kävin sauvakävelemässä paikkakuntamme korkeimmalla paikalla (joka ei kyllä kovin korkea ole). Tarvitsin tätä näkymää enemmän kuin itse treeniä.

Viime viikolla oli näköjään paljon hyviä asioita!
 

This month of May

Filled with remarkable dates and memories from past years, both happy and sad. I am taking it one moment at a time, piece by piece until it's all gone and June will take the lead.
Toukokuun täydeltä merkkipäiviä, hyvässä ja pahassa. Pureskelen niitä pala palalta hiljalleen, kunnes kesäkuu tuo uudet tuulet tullessaan.

Coming and going

Such a nice, long walk in the sun yesterday. There was a very chilly breeze, don't let the pictures fool you. We are so grateful that our dear labrador Jedi is still able to take these walks with us, even though he is almost 13 years old.
Ihana, pitkä kävelylenkki aurinkoisessa, mutta tosi kylmässä tuulessa eilen. Olemme kovin kiitollisia siitä, että melkein 13-vuotias labradorimme Jedi jaksaa edelleen innolla lähteä näille kävelyille.
I think this flue is finally taking me over, I may have to stay home today.
Tämä flunssa uhkaa viimein voittaa vastustukseni, joten taitaa tulla lepopäivä.

Garbage (not the band)

I am coming down with a cold so no bike riding today. Instead we went for a slow walk by the river. I was just saying something to my husband about how brown and grey everything is at this time of year, when we started spotting some colorful stuff. Too bad it wasn't flowers or anything like that... Junk. All kinds of plastic canisters and bottles here and there along the riverside. I'm sure some of them were washed away with the floods with no intention of littering, but then there were ice-cream boxes and liqueur bottles that had to be just thrown away by someone. I don't know what they were thinking. Anyway, we collected together every piece we could find and we're hoping to go back with garbage bags. Can't expect this globe to take care of us unless we take care of it first!
Flunssa on iskemässä, joten tänään ei päästy pyöräilemään. Sen sijaan käytiin rauhallisella kävelyllä joella. Pääsin juuri sanomasta miehelleni kuinka harmaata ja ruskeaa kaikki on tähän aikaan vuodesta, kun siellä täällä alkoi pilkahdella väriläiskiä. Harmi, etten puhu nyt kukista... Romua. Kaikenlaisia muovisia kanistereita ja pulloja pitkin jokivartta. Olen varma, että osa niistä on huuhtoutunut tulvan mukana ihan vahingossa, mutta jäätelörasiat ja likööripullot eivät taida tipahtaa luontoon ihan itsestään. En tajua miten kukaan kehtaa heittää niitä muualle kuin roskikseen. Joka tapauksessa keräsimme yhteen kasaan kaikki mitä löysimme ja ajattelimme palata takaisin jätesäkin kanssa. Ei kai maapallo meistä huolehdi, jos emme me ensin siitä!

Row, row, row the boat...

We saw two definite signs of spring today. The flood and the birds. It's so weird when the trees seem to be growing in the middle of a lake. And yes, someone was actually rowing a boat on a field.
Tänään nähtiin kaksi varmaa kevään merkkiä; tulvat ja muuttolinnut. On hirveän kummallista nähdä puiden kasvavan järvestä. Ja tosiaankin, siellä joku souteli keskellä peltoa.

You know, I didn't actually need more snow.
