The road to Hana

Last week we decided to drive *the road to Hana*. Apparently a lot of people had the same idea so there were dozens, probably hundreds of cars on the road. It didn't get too crowded, though, but we couldn't stop at every special place we wanted to because of the lack of parking spots. But the places we stopped in were gorgeous. Not to mention the views just driving on the road!
Viime viikolla päätimme ajaa *tien Hanaan*. Muutama muukin oli saanut saman ajatuksen, joten tiellä matkasi kymmeniä, ellei satoja autoja. Liiempiä ruuhkia ei tullut, mutta emme pystyneet pysähtymään ihan jokaisessa haluamassamme paikassa parkkipaikkojen ollessa täynnä. Kuitenkin ne, joissa pysähdyimme, olivat maagisen kauniita - puhumattakaan itse tiestä ja sitä ympäröivistä maisemista!

The road to Hana has about 620 curves and 59 bridges! Tiellä Hanaan on noin 620 mutkaa ja 59 siltaa!

At our first stop. Ensimmäisellä pysähdyspaikallamme.

We have had rain only 3 times during our trip. Just for a few minutes at a time, and not even once on the South side of the island where we are staying. Reissumme aikana on satanut vain kolme kertaa, silloinkin ainoastaan muutaman minuutin ajan, eikä koskaan saaren eteläpuolella, jossa asumme.

Another stop at a beautiful park. Walking into a rainforest is not something we do every day! Toisen kerran pysähdyimme upeassa puistossa. Sademetsään käveleminen ei kuulu ihan jokapäiväisiin rutiineihimme!

Obviously we weren't the only ones enjoying the walk in the park... Ilmeisesti emme olleet ainoita, jotka nauttivat hetkestä puistossa...

It really looks like paint, doesn't it? But *it's not*! Näyttää maalatulta, mutta *eipäs olekaan*!

I could have spent the whole day there. Olisin voinut jäädä puistoon koko päiväksi.

At times we felt like we were inside the TV series Lost... which makes sence, as it was shot in Hawaii. Hetkittäin tuntui, kuin olisimme olleet TV-sarja Lostissa... mikä ei ole ihme, sillä sehän kuvattiin Havaijilla.

Seriously! Siis ihan tosi!

Another stop at a black beach. Mustalla rannallakin kävimme.

We saw a couple of *these fellows*. Näimme pari *tällaista kaveria*.

You can't imagine the power of the waves by looking at these pictures. They were frightening. Aaltojen voimaa ei pysty havaitsemaan näistä kuvista. Ne olivat suorastaan pelottavia.

The whole trip took us about 6 or 7 hours, even though we missed some of the stops. Oh well, we will catch those the next time we come to Maui... or maybe even during these last few days of our trip. Matka kesti kokonaisuudessaan 6-7 tuntia, vaikka osa pysähdyksistä jätettiin väliinkin. No, pysähdytään niissä sitten seuraavalla Mauin matkalla... tai ehkä vielä näiden muutamien viimeisten päivien aikana.
