Siili is Finnish and means a hedgehog. We have seen several hedgehogs walking on our yard and the nearby streets this summer. In the centre of the town they don't have many suitable places to hibernate in the winter, so my husband and I decided to set two little houses for them on our backyard. We will fill them up with hay and leaves, and add a tube to the doorway so that bigger animals can't fit in.
I am quite proud of myself. My husband and I made the back and side walls together, all the rest I managed to put together by myself. I hope the residents will like their new homes!
Pihallamme ja läheisillä teillä on näkynyt kesän mittaan paljon siilejä. Koska asumme keskustassa, luontaiset talvehtimispaikat ovat niiltä vähissä. Siksi päätimme mieheni kanssa tehdä kaksi pientä kotia takapihallemme niitä varten. Täytämme ne heinällä ja lehdillä, ja laitamme vielä oviaukkoihin putkea, jotta isommat eläimet eivät mahdu sisälle.
Olen melkoisen ylpeä itsestäni. Sivu- ja takaseinät teimme yhdessä mieheni kanssa, kaikki loput olen nikkaroinut omin käsin. Toivottavasti asukkaat pitävät uusista kodeistaan!
